Playwright, Alex Moon With Artists from Suburbia; The Werewolves (playwright). Alex Moon is a seventeen year old playwright living and working in the Boston Area. His first play, Eris' Chain, has received several productions; most recently through Massasoit Theatre Company in May 2016 under the direction of Prof. Corinne Mason. His second play, The Werewolves, received it's first staged reading through Artists from Suburbia after winning their 2016 Original One-Act Play Contest in the "New Perspectives Category." Alex's most recent work includes co-writing and directing Scituate High School's METG Festival show, Purple Haze; his ten minute play, Loveseat, which won Massasoit Theatre Company's New Works Contest; and being a part of the Proclamation 4 Ensemble through the American Repertory Theatre, which presented their devised theatre piece this past November at Club OBERON in Cambridge. Alex is also a frequent actor and stage hand at The Company Theatre in Norwell, and is incredibly thankful for all the love and support from his friends and family.
Dramaturge, Ally Madden With Artists from Suburbia: The Werewolves (Assistant Director). Ally Madden received her Bachelor's degree in English from Mount Holyoke College in May of 2016. While earning her degree, she studied Shakespeare, earning the Yeagley Shakespeare Prize for her essay on Hamlet. In her sophomore year, she served as dramaturge for the Mount Holyoke Theatre Department's production of The Mandrake by Niccolò Machiavelli. Since leaving Mount Holyoke, she assistant directed The Werewolves with Artists from Suburbia under director Corinne Mason. In the fall of 2016, she played First Witch in Massasoit Theatre Company’s production of Macbeth while serving as the show’s dramaturge. Her most recent role was Sonya in the staged reading of We Will Not Describe the Conversation by Eugenie Carabatsos at the New Works Play Festival in January. Her most recent work as dramaturge was for Massasoit Theatre Company’s production of A Raisin in the Sun in March. Ally is beyond excited to rejoin Artists this spring and summer and cannot wait for the collaboration to begin!
Director, Corinne M. Mason With Artists from Suburbia; The Werewolves (director). Corinne is grateful to have the opportunity to work with Artists From Suburbia, and alongside the talented playwright, Alex Moon. She received her Master’s in Theatre Education from Emerson College, and a B.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School University in conjunction with a Certificate in Musical Theatre from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Since returning to Boston, she has been Directing and Choreographing with organizations such as The Company Theatre, Lyric First Stage, Wellesley Summer Theatre, Stonehill College, Massasoit Theatre Company, MMASBlackBox, Deborah Mason School of Dance, North Cambridge Family Opera, and Watertown Children’s Theatre. Corinne is also committed to teaching performing arts with The Academy of the Company Theatre and Company Theatre Teen Conservatory Program, Studio One, and Cambridge Youth Dance Program. Currently Corinne serves as a Theatre Faculty Professor at Massasoit Community College. Corinne has worked with performers of all ages, and finds each endeavor to be a mutual learning experience, enriching in its own unique way. Whether directing, choreographing, teaching, or performing, Corinne’s values remain the same. She is passionate about the power of performing arts as a catalyst for social change. She believes theatre has the potential to promote empathy, understanding, open dialogue, and reflection for both participants and audiences alike, and strives to infuse these values in every project she takes on.
